Read here that some of these old generators had a wick in the two oil cup fillers. Is this true on the 30 chevy cars? In all the cars and trucks, I've owned, I never saw this, or if any had wicks in them, I didn't see them. I restore 1900's fans and that wick in a cup is how the bearings are lubed, so it would make sense in an old generator.

The parts book shows one for 1933 and 1834.
My 1934 had one and it turned to stone.

I was just working on a 943J which fits 29-32 or more and it had a wick in the commutator end for the bushing. I did not see a wick on the drive end but there was a sealed bearing so someone had worked on it. May or may not have had one.

ps do not over do the oil as it will mess up the commutator and brushes. Your manuals will let you know an occasional drop or two is all you need.

The drive end has ball bearings so can survive longer without oil.

My 1940 Universal parts book lists a 943 generatorfor 1934 truck.

It woud not be uncommom to find a later generator on an older model.
