Had 2 exhaust valve inserts fitted to my 34 head. No troubles or leaks so far.

If it is the actual head casting that is cracked putting seat inserts may fix it but the crack may continue under the insert. If it is a previous insert replacing it should be a good fix.

I would not advise valve seat inserts for cracked heads for a daily driver but should be OK for the limited use in a vintage vehicle. I would just be careful to not over heat the engine and not add water to an hot engine..
