We added turn signals when we rewired the car this winter. Everything is 6v. The flasher purchased stated it was for 6 volt. I can barely hear it when the car is not running. It is just tucked under the dash and not insulated in any way. With the car running there is no way to hear it. Without the turn signals auto canceling and not hearing the ticking I keep forgetting until the next turn that they are on. Is there a loud flasher that I can use?

The turn signals have their advantages but at least I remembered to turn off the hand signals.

I have found that having an old car is a constant project that is never done. I think that is a good thing. Keeps me learning new things. Having two from different eras is just a form of higher education.

You can always wire a beeper in the circuit. An old Goldwing bike I had years ago had one on the turn signals. As irritating as it was, it was helpful in keeping me from forgetting the turn signal was flashing.

The 4 wire control for the turn signals on my ‘37 had a pilot light. A friend had a ‘49 Dodge pickup that had turn signals. Someone had added in-dash indicator lights for left and right turns.

Mine does have the blinking light on the stalk. I just never look any lower than the gauges when I am driving. Also my hand typically blocks the view of that stalk.

I had the same issue on my car until I rotated the controller up to about the 10:00 position. Not sure if ti was AM or PM but it worked.
