Sorry it took me so long to get over here ... I belonged to VCCA about 25 years ago but let my membership lapse ... And there was no forum back then...
Anyway, Peggy and I just scooped up a 1927 Capitol 1-ton project. I just got it home Friday. My knowledge is limited. I know even less about the early 4-cylinder trucks. Doing a lot of reading now. I am trying not to overwhelm Dean with questions ... My comfort zone is within the Advance Design series trucks... But for now, I just look at it all and wonder "What have you gotten yourself into, JM???"
Thanks in advance for all the help and patience!
Regards, John

Welcome to the VCCA's website! You've got a project that is well on its way to getting back on the road!
One thing I noticed in the pics is that you have a 1927 engine block with a 1928 head. That is a fairly common combination. The original '27 head had only one exhaust port and therefore overheated and cracked easily.
The '28 head (with the two exhaust ports and bigger valves) ran cooler and is a great upgrade.

Dean 'Rustoholic' Meltz old and ugly is beautiful!
Thanks everyone! Some assembly required ... indeed. I don't suppose there's a Factory Assembly Manual like for the later trucks ....
Tiny -- it's not that she's letting me off the reservation, she's sent me off. This is HER idea and HER truck. I'm just going to complete the project for her, drive it for her, maintain it for her ... You get the idea ...
Anyway, I am starting to develop my list of questions, but I will direct them to the appropriate forums.
Glad to see some old friends around here already :) Looking forward to making new ones!
By the way .... the shelving unit where I stacked the running boards and splash panels (I seem to have several of each) has collapsed already ... And so it begins ...

Well, welcome to the VCCA John and Peggy. It so great to see you on here. One of the fascinating things about the older trucks is to see how the engineering and design evolved over the years. Some parts of the design were used for many years because they worked so well.
That truck looks like it is ready to put together. I look forward to seeing your journey with this one!
