This thread is specific to the brake issue(s) on The Pie Cart.
(i.e. a seized hand brake cable - rear left side)
See previous thread for the lead up here:
IDing the Pie CartJack & Tony, thank you yet again.
I had a "bit of a look" at the suspect rear brake yesterday - wheel and drum off, but no further. (I need a safe place to park it while I strip the rear brake(s).)
Plan A is to remove the seized handbrake cable and encourage it to become operational again (as suggested by soaking it for a while in kero, or possibly diesel?, and working it ... ) I am hopeful that this will be effective as the Pie Cart resto was barely 20 years ago, though it has only had minimal use since then. But I am also concerned that even if I do get it moving, corrosion along the inner cable may render it useless.
So Plan B is to replace/remanufacture the inner if it's possible.
Failing that, plan C is a complete replacement.
I hope I don't have to go as far as Plan C as if it is unique, that will certainly up the ante!
Meanwhile, I need to separate it from the vehicle first ...
