I had my 28 chevy carb re-built
it ran great for a time , but now the float must not be closing
gas runs out the top vent hole
I have tapped on the bowl and carb itself and it will not stop leaking gas

I suspect that i have some junk in the seat? probably should take it apart and use a carb cleaner

at this time I am not using the gas tank , it was rusty and I will need to replace it
I have been filling the vacuum tank with gas to supply the carb

I cleaned out the vacuum tank, but it may have junk in it that I was not aware of

I suppose if I remove the bowl, and look for junk in the bottom , it may tell me the story?

it was running so damn nice!

thanks for the advice

Paul

Hi Paul,

I had some fuel issues a while ago and tore into the fuel system to fix them.

I suspect your vacuum tank has crud at the bottom and some of it has made its way into your clean carb.

You might get some ideas from my write up. Here's a link to it: Fuel problems, investigation, and fixes for a '28 Canopy Express

Hope this helps. Dean

I have battled my carb issue for months
after taking it apart multiple times and having it work great for a time then the same issue of fuel spilling out the overflow vent , I found a hole in the float
it was positioned such that when I took the carb apart it was empty, but leaked the same

I soldered it closed and no problems

thanks all
