Recently bought a "restomod" '56 Chevy PU (shorty, stepside) like I drove in high school while farming with my dad.
It's on a ChevyII frame with nice 350/700R4 driveline and I grin everytime I go cruising.
Problem is radio doesn't work. I suspect wiring problems since cigarette lighter works but ONLY if you have your foot on the brake pedal!
QUESTION: can I pull the dash to get better access to the radio, etc.? I'm too old and stiff to lay on floor trying to find stuff from the bottom.
Any suggestions?

I believe the dash (instrument panel) is welded in place. Removal of the radio should not be too difficult.
I was not aware that any Chevy II had a frame. Good luck with your problem.

A 1962 - 1967Chevy II was a Unibody car with a sub assembly bolted to the firewall.
The 1968 had a stub frame bolted to the floor. Name changed to Nova i n1969,

I bought the truck from an estate and didn't get much build info. I may be confused on the nomenclature of what they used, it is an IFS. I'll be checking with my mechanic friend later this week -- after sitting for a while after owner's death the brakes are a little iffy and I don't trust myself to do brakes.
