I have been told that I need larger size cable for my 28 chevy to adequately carry the correct power from the battery than the 12 volt cables that I purchased form the auto store my battery turns the 4 cylinder engine over but not with the gusto that I feel that it should have I feel that I need the larger cables
what size do I need, I have been told #00 thanks'

I have 2 ga cables on my '28 Coupe with 6 volt battery. Make 100% sure that the electrical path from both battery posts are clean and conductive. Starter spins as it should. The larger cables like #00 allow a little more leeway on conductive path.

Always make sure ALL connections are clean from battery post through to battery post, it is surprising how much trouble a dirty electrical connection will cause.

I was told the gauge from the factory was 1ga. but I don't know that to be fact or not. I have 0ga. on my 38 and 1ga. on my 53 (which I've since converted to 12v so kind of overkill now). Any welding supply shop should be able to make cables for you. You'll need to tell them what ends you want on them. When I had cables made for my 53 I discovered they were about half as expensive as the factory made cables from the farm store that I bought for the 38. As Chip mentioned, clean connections are as important as cable size.

Google will find you shops that supply battery cables in any size or length with whatever connections you need. I had them make some OO ones for me at a very reasonable cost.

The previous owner of my 38 Master made the cables from welding cable. They are simply amazing. I did the same making up a set of jumper cables.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
