Can anyone tell me what the bolt in this picture is for? It is on the back side of the front brake.

That is the adjuster screw.

It adjusts the position of the brake shoe versus the drum. Turning in the hex headed bolt moves the linings toward the drum by rotating the cam on the end of the shaft.
