Hello, Looking for help / guidance on how to tackle my fuel gauge to get it working.

I have yet to pull the float, not sure if it's all there, or what to look for. Trying to troubleshoot before buying a whole new float system.

The gauge has power- in the sense that currently the indicator comes to life when the battery is on, but proceeds to bounce all over, never registering anything.

I do have one wire coming from the gas tank that is disconnected, my assumption is this needs to connect somewhere behind the gauges? Right now, It doesn't register as hot when checked, so does this mean something else needs to be looked into?

I appreciate the insight,
Adam

This troubleshooting procedure is applicable to all these vintage Chevy's.

Fuel Gauge Troubleshooting

I assume that you have checked your shop manual. I expect that there is a troubleshooting process in it, similar to what is in the 1934 manual.
