Resealing the doors of my 52 2 door Styleline Deluxe. In addition to replacing the weatherstrip, I purchased new "Dust Shields." This is the flexible shield that goes in front of the doors. I can see where the old ones attached to the cowl. They are not attached to the doors and it is not apparent if or where they attach to the doors. Any input appreciated.

They are more than dust shields. They are part of the weather striping to keep out water. The early 2949 had conventional weather strip in hat area. They changed to the boot style in mid 1949.
I will look up the nstallation instructions on Sunday.

Search OLD ON LINE CHEVY MANUALS find Service News and TS manuals, Open 1950 July Service News and it contains installing the later 1949=1952 door post weather strip on an eARLY 1949 CAR.

This will be the most informative thing offered in replacing the Jig Saw puzzel .

The early 1949s leaked in this area and the door trim panels became water stained in a few months.

In the April 1950 Chevrolet Service News, there is information that may pertain to your 1952 model. Here are the links.

Thanks for the excellent advice and links, I see how to do the installation. Indeed it is supposed to fasten to the door pillar, obviously the previous replacement was not done correctly. Thanks again!

I came across this photo of my dust shields. Maybe some help?
