I just read Bill Barker's announcement about 21 years of Chat.

As a relative short timer to VCCA (joined in 2008) I have the great advantage of there always being a VCCA Chat! It has been a great resource for technical information. The unexpected benefit has been the ability to build relationships both virtual and actual with a lot of great people. Every day I amazed as I read Chat and realize how many of the participants I have had the privilege of spending quality time with personally.

We owe Bill a tremendous "Thank You"!

I joined Chat the day it was first put online. It has proven to be a real asset to the old Chevrolet (and GMC) community. Bill did a tremendous amount of work to get it off the ground and keep it going. He should be in the VCCA Hall of Fame if there ever is one.

I joined 2002 but in excess of 4000 in less than 12 months beat me to it. Rusty and Chipper have it right on all points.

Thanks guys. And I want to thank Bill Bradford for taking my original proposal to the National Board meeting in 2001 in order to get the club to pay the $200 fee for the original software that I installed. Installed in November and spent a month testing and debugging it.

Also had some major decisions (with the help of some early testers - eg. Skippy (aka JYD), Chip Sweet, Chev Nut (!), Antique Mechanic, some guy in NH, a couple of dudes in Australia (!), Mr. Kassis :-), and a bunch of other guys. All together 67 guys jumped online to test this before the official roll-out date of December 21, 2001. Trying to decide which years to group together was a lively discussion! :-)

Thanks to each and every one. It was, and still is, a good ride.
