Looking for a float for my Zenith Carburetor! The carburetor for my 1920 Chevrolet 490 has been all cleaned up and looks like new! I bought the rebuild kit and gaskets from Mr. Gary Wallace and the parts are installed but my original float looks like it's been soldered in a few spots. My carburetor guy thinks it'll work, but it would be better if I could find a new float. I'll try looking on eBay for now but any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks...Craig

I hope you find a replacement but they are next to hen's teeth on the availability list. Have a need for a Zenith O-4 that I am currently rebuilding. Its float has about 10 cracks that can be soldered or coated but as you prefer to find a good original.

I tried to make a zenuth work on my speedster. It has the early 20's long intake. Thought I had a good float but it filled with gas the next time I tried to drive it. So I tried to make a coark float. It kinda worked still not great tho. Maby if it was shellacked it would seal it and work better. I also found what I thought mite be the float from a place in England. I can hunt it up again if your interested.

With ethanol in the gas shellac will not seal a cork float.

Because of the way the needle is raised and lowered by the float a metal float is necessary or maybe a smooth impervious plastic? I don't expect a cork or foam type float to work well long term.

Just checked and the O-4 float is currently out of stock but indicates it will be back in stock soon. Cost is ~ $ 80 each at current exchange rate.
