The cam in my D-R distributor has rust pits. Will I have to replace the whole shaft or is there a fix?

I would guess that you will need to replace the complete distributor because the shaft (as well as the distributor) only fits a 1936.

I see, would an electronic conversion work with my distributor? I was also wondering if anybody had ever reground their cam.

I think I have a used distributor for 1936, if that will help.

Thank you Mike, I will explore the electronic ignition path right now since it will eliminate the pitted cam and points.
