Can anyone advise if the 38-39 requires a throw out bearing retainer clip? It seems none of the suppliers sell one.

I have never heard of one and itis not listed in the parts book or shop manual...????

I've seen them used on other vehicles, guess the 38-39 Chevy did not use.
