My 1956 Chevy Belair 235 6 cylinder has a power loss and backfire with sharp acceleration. Slow acceleration when parked motor responds well. This also results in very poor drivability until vehicle is up to speed.
Compression is 100 across the board, timing is a few degrees BTC, newly rebuilt carb, completely rebuilt top end.
Anyone have any ideas??

Power piston in carburetor stuck or not getting vavuum due to intake port under carb beingblocked.

Did the person who rebuilt the carburetor run it on a similar engine before giving it back to you?
Even those of us who have rebuilt multiple carburetors over the years make mistakes. There is always a question of quality in rebuild kits these days.

How did it run prior to the carb rebuild? An incorrect or improperly installed gasket can contribute to blocking the port under the carb.
