The April 1931 service news mentions that a turning decal is being applied to some models. Does that indicate that early cars of those models just had a painted depression in the dash?
My understanding is the closed cars with the standard cloth fabric interior had painted dashes and painted moldings. The deluxe interiors had the engine turned decal from the start of production. In addition the stitching pattern on the door panels differed. Moldings were mahogany grained.
Does anyone have a nice picture of an original '31 Dash Decal. I have remnants of 2 different reproductions, but one has a greyish background and the other is shiny silver. What did the original look like?
I realize the black design should be like the one with the grey background.
I am still looking for a few high resolution images of original decals. I might have a source for printing/cutting them but they don't want to start the work without being sure it is as close to 100% correct as possible.
wondering if the painted dash vs. decal dash would also apply to the 1932 Special Sedan? Mine has ivory painted dash recess on black dash, and black painted window moldings with brown highlights.
