Tried tech section without any luck. I have '38 1/2 ton pickup. Trying to figure out how to properly remount cab to the frame after paint. I've been on Jim Carter (and called them along with Filling Station and Chev of the 40s) and I have concluded that I need a cab mount kit (8 bolts/4 sets), two blocks for rear (?) of cab and two triangle type blocks where the firewall connects to the cab.
Is this correct and, if so, can someone confirm the installation points for the cab mount bolts and blocks? Jim Carter's "instructions" say Bolt 1 - "front"; Bolt 2 ?; bolt 3 ? (mentions master cylinder bracket); and Bolt 4 (behind the seat). I assume they are taking set 1, 2, etc. I see four sets of holes in line on each side of the cab floor. Two under the removable floor piece (one by firewall and the other by the triangle connection), one in front of the seat and one behind the seat. Are those my mounting points? No mention of the wooden blocks or their location. Any ideas?
A schematic would be lovely.
I’ve figured out how/where the triangle blocks are installed.
As always, thanks much for sharing your knowledge and experience!!!
Fig, I make the kits for Jim Carter and The Filling Station. I might be able to help you sort out the mounting of your cab. The wood blocks are added to the parts I supply so the PDF from Pat is good info. The only thing I see that I would change is that the bolts in all the trucks I have seen ('31/'38) are square head, not hex head. The master cylinder reference only applies to larger trucks.
