I am replacing my 1939 MD 216 engine manifold gaskets and I need advice concerning the aligning sleeves. I have replacement sleeves from the Filing Station, but I don't know how they are applied, how they are used for aligning...I need to know everything about them as I am starting from scratch. All info will be greatly appreciated as I am completely baffled at this point. Thank you!!!

There should be grooves is the head and manifold for them to fit into.

They don’t wear out so unless you lose one, there is no need for new ones.

I place the rings in the groove machined in the inlet ports of the head (you may have to expand them slightly to make them stay), then sit the manifold gasket in place then the manifold into place. The inlet manifold is machined to accept the protruding part of the ring, this helps align the inlet ports properly as well as help seal against vacuum leaks. Tony
