I ventured up into the loft of my garage just now and took down the part numbers of the radiators I have. It was too hot and I was sweating like a pig. My son came up there and ordered my [bleeped] to come down. I did.

Here is the numbers of what I have and a few I can't identify:

a. 321096 48 Chevrolet Passenger (the parts book for 1929-48 lists 3115954 as the one for 42-47. I don't know what the difference is.)

b. 3108266 37 Chevrolet Passenger (I also have one with the number 3108269 which looks identical except for the number difference. My parts book doesn't show that number.)

c. 3122692 Your guess is as good as mine. My parts book doesn't show it.

d. 3115954 ditto

e. 3133042 ditto

f. 3114869 ditto

g. 3114869 41 Chevrolet Passenger (Several of those.)

All the above have been checked out by the local radiator shop's doctor and pronounced healthy. I had the shop paint them for me and so they look real good.

I'm not listing any of the above for sale, either here on some other venue, owing to not knowing what they are worth and difficulty in shipping, etc. I might would bring the 37 and 48 to BG. I believe both the 37 and 48 to be NOS. I have some vendor spaces there in order for me to have something to do. But I don't need to haul extra weight if I don't need to do so.

If any of you are interested in seeing either of them, then let me know. I could send a picture to your email address. If I hauled them to BG, getting together on price or a decline to close the deal wouldn't bother me none. I'm easy to get along with. Am too!

I hope that whoever gets one he/she will be a VCCA member. You know.

Best,

Charlie computer

BTW: If any of you know what c-f are for then please let me know. Thanks.

BTW2: These were accumulated over years of visits to old Chevrolet dealers back in the 70s. Some of the dealers may have sold other GM cars and trucks and thus the odd numbers. Maybe Pontiac or whatever.

The 321096 1948 radiator was for a 1948 as the filler neck was changed for a pressure cap. It replaced the 954 radiator after 1948 as it was a direct fit for a 1942-1947 and the owner could use a pressure cap if he wished.

The 1941 radiators are a direct fit for a 1940 and cool better than a 1940 radiator. Chevrolet listed that radiator for 1940 and 1941 in the later years. A real help fot hot running 1940 models.

The 266 and 269 radiators are for 1937 passenger cars. One is for a Master and one for a Master Deluxe. The Master has more cooling fins per inch than the M.D. (thicker core for better cooling) but direct fit for Master Deluxe. In other words either one will fit either model but one will cool better.

3122692 is for a 1948-1954 DD stand up and drive truck

3114869 is for 1940 and 1941 car

3133042 for a 1955-1956 car 6 cyl. stick

Thanks Gene. That's a big help.

I had forgotten that in 48 a pressure cap could be used. You have mentioned this many times over the years but my memory is getting a little sloppy here lately.

And thanks for the info on the 37s. I didn't know that.

I thought I had a 55-56 NOS 6 cylinder radiator. Thanks for identifying it for me.

Jim,

For sure tomorrow I will send pics of radiator.

You can have your choice of a cast iron bottom outlet or a later regular thin one that came on a replacement radiator. Not aftermarket but just a later GM product with same part number. I'm guessing here because I don't know the history behind those two versions of the same radiator. Maybe Gene does.

I'll show you both.

Until tomorrow,

Charlie computer

Hi Charlie, received your pictures. Thanks. I have a Deluxe GA and looking for the Deluxe version. Parts manual shows two numbers for 1937 radiator core:

1937 all passenger vehicles: 3108266

1937 GD,GE,S (heavy duty) 3 inch core: 3108154

You have one that shows 3108266. The other one you have does it show similar to the 3108154 number?

I have a GA business coupe, anyone know if I need to go for the 3108154 type?

Thanks Charlie and others

The above numbers were taken from a later parts book where parts were combined, ec.

Note that the radiator for a Master Deluxe had LESS cooling ability than the Master radiator.

The following is from a 1937 parts book.

Master part # 3108269

Master Deluxe 3108266

In my 1929-48 parts book I see 1937 listed cores as follows:

3108266 All Pass.

3107892 All comm. and Util.

3108154 GD, GE, S (hvy.dty.)

I don't know why the 3108269 is not listed.

i have the 3108266 and 3108269.

According to Gene's listing, I have a Master Deluxe (3108266) and a heavier duty one for the Master (3108269). Strange that this last one is not listed here.

Because Chevrolet eleminated stock by combining numbers under one number. In other words less stocking of parts and reducing numbers where one number can cover several applications, Especially when the model was getting obsolete such a 1937 in 1948

JK,

I never open the PM thing. It hates me. It constantly flashes that I have a PM when I don't. All advised fixes have been tried to no avail.

That PM thing and the ability to post pics are two hard things that should be made easier for simple minded folks like me. dance

My email address is in my profile.

Chev Nut, thanks for the information and details. I do indeed have a later parts book 1929-1950. I have been looking for the specific 1937 year parts book to go with my business coupe I am servicing. Would you happen to know where to find one? I have had no luck on the internet sites.

Thanks
