I just noticed looking at Google Maps that there is road construction on I-71 southbound between Florence & Richwood Kentucky. Since this is the way I will be traveling to Bowling Green, anyone familiar with this area? Is this a major slow spot or just a minor inconvenience? Local knowledge would be very helpful. Thanks

I don't know but if its like the DOT here in NC they will do all they can to slow and/or stop traffic all they can. It's the same with the fire department. It seems a minor fender-bender will give them opportunities to stop traffic in all lanes far longer than is really necessary. It may seem they do that just because they can. You know. ref parking parking

I hope you find that the traffic will be flowing nicely during the time you are traversing that portion of the highway. dance

In that area it's just normal seasonal resurfacing. Could be done before the end of July. If you plan on staying on I-71 to I-265 (Louisville area starting in LaGrange) there is major ongoing construction. Lane widening with new center barriers. It is a multi-year project due to very high traffic. I-65 southbound between Louisville and Elizabethtown is very rough right now. Rolling construction in that area. These roads are concrete. Takes a while to deconstruct and the curing time for the new concrete.
May be better to continue on I-75 south to the Cumberland Parkway (London, Ky). Starts out two lanes with passing zones. Opens up to four lanes in Somerset continues to I-65 just north of Bowling Green. A lot less traffic.
