Does anybody have a picture of the E-brake handle ratchet on a 1923 or 24? I have a handle but no ratchet under the handle that bolts to the transmission. Wondering if i can make one or if somebody may have a extra?
Thanks Rooster

. Hi Rooster, Here's a photo of my 23 Sedanette. Unfortunately it was "Out standing in it's field" before I bought it so there are a few weeds blocking the view. Someone else may have a better photo.

Thanks Dave! Thats what I needed! Looks like the bottom of my e-brake handle is reversed from yours. Mite be the wrong one or different year. I noticed also you have a speedo cable in the torque tube ball. Could a 1922 or earlier have a different place for the cable? Front wheel?
Thanks Rooster

These may help. Not sure on yours but I have heard of some speedos being driven by a gear on the front wheel.

Rooster here are some pages from the parts manual. If you enlarge the picture they are very clear. The Ebrake on a '23 is different than a '24.

I guess you know that a lot of parts for 1923-24 models are identical with parts for earlier models of 490. So if you have questions I suggest that you always check the "1916-1922 Model 490 Only"-forum. And put your posts on both forums.
When I check the Technical-Prewar forums I always check both.
I never really understood the idéa with a separate forum for model 490, when it was launched several yeras ago. Especially as the 1922 model, which I have, has some crucial parts that are identical with 1923-24 models, and of course differ from earlier models. For instance propeller shaft and -housing, ring&pinion gears and a different thrust bearing on one side in the differential.

Thanks swedechev I have noticed alot of the same parts between the years. I think my trans is a early 490 and shifter a 23-24. And from above im looking for the parts book now. Im building a peroid speedster, it was a stalled project I bought with no information. Looks to have a rebuilt engine, trans, and rear from different years. So im trying to put the pieces together and figure out what was and wasnt done. I have read about your differential problems several times! Glad you got them sorted out.
