Based on my limited research the original engine is in my 1937 Master Coupe (GB). Could someone confirm that for me?
The body serial number is 14GB01 10032.
The number cast into the cylinder block to the rear of the distributor mount is 838101 with an 8 underneath it.
The number stamped on the machined surface in front of the fuel pump mount is 353153.
Thanks for the help!

14 = car assembles in Baltimore GB = 1937 Master 01 = assembled in Jan. 1937. 10032 = assembly sequence. Number began at 1001 for that plant. 838101 is casting number for 1937 block. 353153 is the engine serial number. 1937 engine numbers ran from 1 through 1187821. 1937 production began in Oct. of 1936, The engine probably was made in December. The general dates and number sequences indiate it probably is the original engine.

Rusty I dont think the grammar matters so long as the correct message gets there. I must admit I do try to keep the grammar correct. Tony

Thanks Tony.
One reason I try to keep the grammar correct is to help our chat friends in Europe understand the information.
In my work I talk with many people who have English as their second language. I am always impressed with their willingness to use English and how well they handle our language. I have learned that it helps our communication if I use proper grammar and avoid slang or local terms.
Take care,
Rusty

I am in the process of recruiting a potential VCCA member who just purchased a 1937 Deluxe Master. We have been able to decode the Serial and Body Tags. So this older thread is very relevant.
We are trying to confirm the engine. In his post to this thread Gene noted that the engine serial numbers went from 1 through 1187821 for the 1937 model year.
Does this mean that all engines were built at one location or were the serial numbers "issued" or controlled so there was no duplication among engine plants?

There was only on engine plant in 1937, Flint. If the engine number is higher than the above engine it is a newer engine. The 1937 engine number was up near the fuel pump, the only year a 216 had the engine number was in that location.
