I am tryingto install new 12 volt wiper motor and I am having trouble attaching the transmission arms to the motor. Any clues as to how to do iT? also I am also having trouble attaching the wiper transmission chain into the "hook". Any help would be appreciated.

I have only done one conversion to an electric wiper motor. That was on a ‘49 3100.

It took some real head scratching and patience to make everything connect and work like it should. You are dealing with 2 major variables.

I assume that your electric motor has a bunch of different locations for the pins that connect to the links that go to the 2 wiper transmissions. The key there is to find the holes that most closely match the vacuum motor configuration. Other wise the stroke will either be too much or not enough.

The other trick (and I cannot remember how we finally figured this out) is to properly set the park position and operating range. On the motor we had (I think it was from a company named Newport) there was a mechanical adjustment as well as something to teach it electrically.

My advice is to not install the wipe blades until you are very confident that the wiper drive shafts are operating correctly. The proper park position is with the wiper blades pointing to the center of the car and lying parallel to the windshield moulding. It’s easy to set things up backwards!

I just did this job on my 38 Master. The arms on mine attached the same way as the original vacuum unit did. The holes in the arm ends fit on the pegs on the motor. Than there are eclips to put on. Also there are two plastic washers used on the two pins,

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
