Welcome!

My information says 79 hp @ 3200 rpm.

26.3 sounds like it is probably the meaningless number that was used at one time for tax purposes and was based only on the area of the bore.

PS
Yes, 26.3 is the "tax horsepower" and was calculated by squaring the bore measurement in inches, multiplying by the cylinders, and dividing by 2.5.
Many places in Europe and some US states levied a license plate tax based on that number.

Your car had 79 horsepower.
I suspect that was gross horsepower, not net (net being more meaningful).
If I'm wrong on this point, someone will hopefully correct me?

Again, welcome! :-)

The above is correct. The engine torque and at what speed it is avaiable is more important.

Hello Pops36

So in addition to the great VCCA forums there are club regions around the world. A small but strong region is right here in the Phoenix area. The Central Arizona Region (CAR) has around 40 members. 2 weekends ago we had a tour to the car museum owned by the widow of mystery writer Clive Cussler. Janet Cussler was one of the most informed and hands on docents we have ever had the opportunity to be introduced to. Although the one Chevrolet she says she has was not present the stable was very interesting.

If you are interested in checking out and getting to know some of the members of CAR contact director Diane Adams.

ps we have a '36 town sedan that has a very similar paint scheme as your avatar display. Bright red with dark red/maroon fenders. Many years ago when the car was restored (before we got it) the wheels were painted a champagne color to match the pinstripe color. I like the contrasting wheel color but it cost us enough points that the car will never get its senior judging badge.
