3 questions 1 do you use spring washers on conrod bolts some say yes some no otherwise nut ill sit below cotter pin hole. 2 the crank hole on front pulley is broken are the pulleys balanced for the crank as i have a good 1936 pulley to use the only time i use the crank is for timing or valve adjustment. 3 in the 1934 manual there is no timing mark diagrams only half a picture ihave set the cam gear which has no markings is 54 teeth in between 12 and13 to the dot on crank is this right it seams to alighn with ball on fly wheel thanks

Spring washers? Are you reffering to the stamped jamb nuts with little teeth that jamb the rod nut threads?. In this country they were called pal nuts.
Chevrolet first used pal nuts in new car production in 1940 At that time if you bought a new connecting rod for a pre 1940 engine it would come with pal nuts. conventional type rod nuts and no cotter pin holes in the rod bolt.
If you have the solid bolts and conventional nuts, yes, use the pal nuts.
The pal nuts will not work with the nuts designed for the cotter pin type bolts or nuts.

The 1936 balancer will work fine on a 1934 engine. The only difference is the 1936 balancer is it has a smooth surface due to a seal being used in the timing gear cover in 1936. The so called seal was nothing but a cork ring.
The balancer did nothing to balance the engine, it only cushioned the engine power inpulses reducing vibrations.

Yes, use the shop manual instructions for the timing gears installation.

Also be sure to use the oil slinger behind the balancer.

In addition...
If by spring washers you mean the spiral type lock washers...
ABSOLUTELY NOT !!
Lock washers can split and fall out, which would be catastrophic on a connecting rod.

yes they are you might call them split washers the 1936 motor has them on as well so do you just use the nut with split pin? on the timing is it correct? thanks.

The parts catalog shows the bolt and nut, no washer.

Some time ago on this site someone well respected for his knowledge said he uses modern rod bolts with pinch (locking) nuts. I won't quote who as I can not find the post however modern hardware (even used ) is much better quality than the original.

I have used modern Ford and big block Chevy rod bolts by grinding a little off one side of the head. Then adjust shims with standard nuts to proper torque. When properly adjusted tighten locking nuts to hold in place. That way I don't have to worry about stretching the bolts or loosening nuts. Typically get used bolts at my local machine shop for a thank you.
