I have just finished putting a driveshaft into the torque tube of a 1916 Chevy 490. I have not yet installed the torque tube in the car. My question is : How does the torque tube receive oil? front or back? or should I put some 600 weight in it before putting it into the car?

The torque tube bushings at the front of the torque tube are lubricated through the front gearbox oil, through the ball joint, a certain amount runs down the back of the tube, to the rear bearing, the differential oil is the main source of oil for the pinion bearings at the rear of the torque tube

I am not an expert on this by any means but if both front and rear bearings are new and/or dry I would lubricate before installing the torque tube as it would pretty easy to do now instead of waiting to drive the car to get the fluid splashed around for the necessary lubrication on the bushing. It may not be necessary but I don't see how it can hurt anything. That's my humble opinion.
