Hi there,
I could use help in identifying this car. It was my father-in-law's from the 50's into the 60's. My guess is mid 40's business coupe(?)

It is a 1941 Master Deluxe coupe. Could be a business coupe (no back seat) or a club coupe (back seat)
17,000 of the Master Deluxe coupes were club coupes and 8000 were business coupes.
The club coupe gas cap was on the right rear fender (visable in picture) and the business coupe in the center of the right quarter panel.
So it is a club coupe.

Thank you Gene, I appreciate your help.
I have another picture that shows the license plate but it is blurry, might be '3A5188'. Do you know of any service or if California DMV would be able to look up old plates to see if a vehicle is still on the road?

The CA DMV can look up to see if a license plate number is currently in use, but their online records only go back less than 10 years and there is no 'paper trail' to dig through. ;-(

You might try one of the DMV authorized registration guys (like Steve's Smog and Vehicle Registration Service - https://haywardsmogstarstation.com/)

I think these places are a little more flexible than the DMV.
