My advise is to not use the stock ignition switch. They contain some die-cast "aka white metal or pot metal" parts that can render the switch inactive with no warning. I install a modern 30 amp toggle switch. I had used the "coaster" switch but after cleaning the contacts two times and having it fail decided a more reliable replacement was warranted.

If you want to have it look operational you can put a key in the slot and hide the toggle switch under the dash. I place it on a small plate with hole for the toggle switch and one for one of the steering column bolts. Works well and nearly out of sight.
