I am going to guess it goes around an exhaust manifold and connects to a tube to bring heated air to the cabin…no idea what it fits but there were a lot of aftermarket stuff made back in the years of no heat in the passenger compartment

I too thought it might be some sort of pre heater for the carb. Knowing how all that thin metal rusted it seems a shame to have it just sitting if someone needed it. Thanks for the response Lads...............Joe...............

It looks like it is both a heater and carburetor air pre-heater. It would wrap around the exhaust pipe and would provide a mounting surface for duct work to the passenger compartment (large square opening) and a hot air tube to go to the carburetor.

I don't think its off a car. It looks like a large electrical conduit junction. I'm probably wrong, just mu 2 cents.

I think Sanderson might be right the apertures don't look big enough, the exhaust pipe is min 2" that box looks only 1-1/2". Ray
