I'm replacing the oil pan gasket on a 235 engine 1951. The 2 cork end gaskets are to wide. Only way for them to fit the bearing caps is to trim. I'm using a felpro kit OS 5041C. They also look to thin. Do not want to redo job. Is there a kit with correct size rubber like you woud find in a V8 kit. Thanks

I would purchase a different brand. Note the the side gaskets are installed first aand the end corks last.

I used a Fel Pro set in my 1946 also. Got it from The Filling Station.
I thought the end corks were too wide also. But then I started the edge toward the outer end of the engine into the groove, then pushed the cork hard against the edge already in until the inner edge popped into the groove. (wasn't real easy)
Once in, the cork was so solid in there that there was no fear of it dropping out while putting on the pan, and it held the ends of the side gaskets up really well. (Take note of what Gene says above.)
In the end I was thinking "Wow, that worked really well. I'm glad they were that wide!"
PS I should add that the gaskets didn't leak when done either.

I use the same technique installing the cork end gaskets, I work with the cork on its edge and turn and push it into the heroics with a large dull screwdriver blade. I also coat the entire pan perimeter including the ends with RTV.
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Look up “Best Gasket” and read the online reviews.
