I read somewhere that a 1964 Plymouth valiant clutch will work on a 28 Chevy, the Plymouth clutch is 9.25 inches, has anyone tried it?

If you do a search here using the key words "modern clutch" you will find posts that talk about what clutch disc can be used in a 28. Also if you do a google search for modern clutch in 28 chevy, you should run across a post made on the Jalopy Journal where a Valiant pressure plate was use in a 28 with the regular clutch disc. This involved having the flywheel machined.
In the posts I found here under modern clutch I found where you can actually use the clutch disc out of a 32 chevy I think with the spring dampeners with next to no mods.
I am on this same path with my 28 truck. I bought the linings from Gary Wallace to reline my disc, but I have come to realize my splines are not worth a darn in either of the discs I have.
From what I understand most any clutch disc is adaptable if close to the same diameter and if the bore and spline count is the same. Just a matter of how much work you want to do.
Where in WI are you?

Curious as to why ? Are the 28 clutches no longer available?
I put a new clutch in my 27 and my 28 a few years ago, I don’t recall having an issue finding parts for the jobs?

Yes, there are new clutch discs made for the later Chevy four bangers. C&P Automotive Parts makes them.

If you are replacing the clutch, I highly recommend changing the throw out bearing to the new ball bearing style to replace the carbon disc. Then, you will have peace of mind that the throw out bearing will not overheat, as the carbons do occasionally.

Here's a link to C&P's catalog page: Billy Possum Chevroet Parts

Cheers, Dean
