Hi all,

I have a 1928 chevy truck that doesn't have doors. I'm interested in purchasing if anyone has two doors. I purchased a 1928 RH sedan door thinking it would be close enough to modify, however, after matching it to the opening it appears to be significantly different. Another option is to try and make a couple of door out of wood. Has anyone had experience with this ? suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

I have some nice doors from a 1926 model "X" that I was going to use on my 1927 LM. I found some 27 doors but now I need 1927 - 28 door latches. The LO & LP are same as LM except for door hinges. The door skins MIGHT be the same as 1926 Fisher sedans. This only applies to cabs and Panel trucks produced by Chevrolet. Most Chevy chassis used bodies from other manufacturers.
. The first picture is of a 1926 model "X" door latch with twist on top. The second picture is model "LM" door latch that I need. .
. Post a picture of your cab to make sure you get the correct doors.

Mid year 1927, the Landau sedan doors changed size. The truck cab is much taller.
See both ads below. The early Landau has tall doors and a window behind "C" pillar. The later Landau is lower and only side windows in the doors. Both have lady with fur collar walking away from car. (Probably irrelevant to door size.) Lou

Thanks for the reply Lou. I think it's as you suggested the door opening is taller and narrower then the door I purchased. I took several pic but can't seem to figure out how to post them in the forum. If you want to shoot me a PM I can email them to you.

To post pics direct to the forum I think you need to be a VCCA member. Non members need to save the pics to another hosting site and post a link.

Thanks for the input. I am a member. I sent an email to member services and they must have enabled something because I now see the attachment option. So here are the pic's of the opening and the door that doesn't fit.

There are people who occasionally visit the site that might have the doors. One is on the Great Race. When Spyphish gets back you can PM him to see if he can help.

Last I contacted him I don't think he had any body parts left but I could be wrong. He told me he had a full 28 frame with all 4 brakes and a running engine that could be freshened up. 4-speed and bell housing and lots of misc parts.
I know he had a set of 28 doors that he sold on here a couple months back.
Looks like a pretty good truck you have there Kevin.

Spyphish knows of a guy in Kansas that has some '28 trucks. He bought two from the guy and told me he still had some more.

That's a guy I wouldn't mind talking to. I'll maybe have to try giving Phish a jingle.

Has anyone had to deal with replacing the inside door cardboard covering on a 28 LP truck? Looking for ideas on the best way to do it. Seems all the poster board I find isn't large enough.

You can purchase the water resistant door cardboard at an upholstery supply.

I would also like to know if anyone has a template for 1928 Truck door glass. (I have a 1T). I have one metal 'carrier' to lift the window, so can get a mirror of that fabricated. The getting correct glass size figured out will be a trick.

thanks! Steve K in W Montana

If you don't find a template I suggest making a pattern out of hardboard.
