As I was working on the rear brakes to attempt fix the non-working parking brakes, I realized the linkage and spring where the brake cable connects to the brake shoe is missing from both rear shoes. I looked everywhere but could not find a replacement. Does anyone has any suggestion or part number maybe?

Thank you

Jacques

The Filling Station or Chevs of the 40’s might be able to help? I checked my parts catalog to see if I could at least maybe get you a part number or group number from one of the drawings. No joy. Sorry. I know there has to be at least one of the guys here in Chat that can help. Good luck!

I should have some used parts that would work. Can you specifically identify what you need? Do you have a parts book? They have a nice exploded photo (see below) that shows the major parts of the rear brake assembly. This photo is for a 1-ton, so the adjusters on the wheel cylinder are different. Are you talking about the 5.182 extension and the 5.184 spring?

Do you also need the 5.181 Lever or is that still there?

Hi Dale,

I am missing the 5.182 extension and the 5.184 spring on both rear wheels. I do have the 5.181 linkage. If you can part with these parts, I will be happy to buy them from you.

Thank you for sharing the photo, it is very helpful..

Best

Jacques

I have the missing parts for your emergency brake system. Here is a picture of the specific ones listed above.
Send me a P.M. (personal message) if you are interested in them.

According to parts book, '40-'42 is different from '46-'50. Both rod and spring.

If someone has the rear brakes disassembled on their 3/4 ton pickup (mine is a ‘52) can you give me the measurements (diameter and length) of the extension bar and spring? Mine are missing and I located a pair but I don’t know if they are the correct ones for my truck. Thank you.
