I looked thru all of the threads and couldn't find one relative to my problem. First, I have a powerglide (automatic), and its wired to a neutral safety switch from ignition to starter. It has to be in park or neutral to start , or turn over. I am not getting any power thrugh the switch, just to check it further I jumped the wires at the switch and it turned over the engine.. Could the switch be bad, and if so can it be rebuilt? I will mention that I converted from 6 volt to 12 volt, but a switch doesn't know the difference. So does anyone have an idea, can I rebuild the switch, I doubt if there are many out there available. If so and you might have one I would love to have it, let me know.

Your problem may only be adjustment. Apply the brakes, hold the key in the start position and move the selector lever from park through to drive, if the starter operates it is only a matter of adjusting the switch position. If the starter doesnt operate the switch is defective.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my problem. Chatmaster it the nail on the head, I went out to the garage and did exactly what he said and the engine turned over in low gear, so I guess all I have to do now is reset the switch to park where it turns over in low. I guess you are never too old to learn something new, not that I'm getting old (I wish).

A followup; I just re-adjusted the neutral safety switch to start in Park and Neutral, works great, saves me R&Rn something I didn't need, thanks again.
