Hi all. Just wanted to ask if slipping out the axles is as easy as I think or is there more to it.
I have search and read the manual and I'm thinking the axles will slip out like a modern rear end but just want to be sure that no axle seals are required.
I need to replace the third member seal and the rear cover seal as she's marking her spot a little to often hahaha.

Welcome to Chatter There is a bit to removing the axles, not a 5 minute exercise. Drain the oil from the housing, remove rear cover, there is a bolt parallel to the axles to be removed that allows the planetary gear pin to come out, remove the planetary gear spacer, push axles into the centre and remove the horseshoe type clips from axle ends, axles then slide out. While you have the axles out carefully inspect the area the bearings and seals run on and if damaged fit new bearings, there are (speedie sleeves) available here in Aus that will recover the damaged seal area. I don't know what the third member seal is but there is a gasket between the end of the torque tube housing and the axle housing. There is quite a bit of work involved to separate those two.
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Thanks tonyw that's what I was hoping and thought that it would be just a slip in and out like later model rear ends that I have mess around with from the 60 70 and 80's.
Old216 I'm after the gasket that goes between the ring and pinion housing. I call it a third member or pumpkin like a 9 inch has a third member at least as with the folks I've learned from though yes it has a torque tube.
Though not perfect I plan to un bolt the u bolts and slip the axle housing back far enough to clean the surface split the gasket at the top if I have to and give the gasket a lil skim of a sealer then put it back together.
Might not be the right way but I'm not into redoing the ball seal at the tranny again that was enough fun and my friend and I did it at his shop on a hoist.
Lucky though my car is pretty clean and nothing was rusted when we did the ball seal. The folks that owned my 37 in the past must have cared to keep it greased and clean.

IMHO that ball seal is going to be a walk in the park compared to what you propose. If you did it recently at least it should still be shimmed properly. I don't know if you would have to replace the seal again. Maybe.
Cleaning that flange up with the pumpkin still hanging there on the studs and gear oil dripping in your face sounds like the sort of nightmare job that could put someone in a straitjacket. How will you keep debris from falling into the axle housing?
