Hi anyone know the camshaft thrust plate clearance,or end float measurement for camshaft of 171 1927 chev thanks

40 years ago I made the mistake of re-using a cam & cam gear (with retaining plate) which had about 20 thou clearance. At idle it would allow the cam to oddly move in/out which would in turn cause the timing to advance/retard enough to create a loping idle that gave everyone fits. A new gear and retaining plate and it ran smooth as could be. Good luck!
