Hi All,

I am having a new headliner and windlace installed in my 53 and I had a question regarding insulation between the roof and the headliner. What was there originally and what should be used to replace it? Some of the material has come down and is unusable.

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure what was used in the '53, probably a thick tar-paper.

Just Google "auto sound deadening material" and pick what you like. Might also ask your installer for advice.

Good luck.

The 1953 210 and BelAir are described as having "extra roof insulation"
From 1949-mid 1951 the Deluxe models had a foam rubber padding. Due to the Korean war it changed to a straw/felt type padding. Not sure what 1953 had.
