Am posting this for a new member. He has a meticulously restored a 1963 Corvair Greenbrier fire truck. When he contacted the fire company who bought it new they gave him all kinds of fire-fighting items (helmets, fire extinguishers, axes etc) which he has displayed in and with the truck, not at a VCCA meet. He is planning at some point to attend a VCCA regional. My question is should these items be displayed with the truck? Will points be deducted if they are displayed in the truck? I might ad they are mostly period correct and were actually used in the truck when new.
Thanks for any input on this. Ed Bittman VCCA#47508 Dade City,Fl

They could be displayed with th e truck and no points would be lost.
Sounds interesting.

It should be displayed in "as delivered to the buyer as the dealer" and i beg to differ with Gene, but points can be deducted if there is no documentation if not provided whenor if asked, if the captain or any other member of the team feels it should be warranted.

If it is in the fire truck class it should make no difference....at least it never has.

Agreed Sorry I forgot all about the fire truck class, not too many (if any) here on the east coast. The equipment has to be period correct

So there is a fire truck class? Guess I missed that to. Would he not be in commercial class? Ed

Fire trucks are judged in their own classes:

TF1 1911-1928
TF2 1929-1955 (1st Series)
TF3 1955-1992

I thought the only part of any truck that was judged was the part that was built by Chevrolet or GMC.

Remember that a fire truck could be entered into HPOCF or CDPC as well. If it is entered into class judging then the accessories that are displayed that are not GM , such as helmets, ladders, etc. will be judged for condition only. If the truck has original ladders and helmets and the rest of the truck is original, as many are, you would be advised to consider HPOCF. If the equipment is in very rough shape CDPC could also be an option. We do not deduct points for anything on fire trucks for authenticity but we do for condition.
