New '51 station wagon owner. Are the starters for the 216/235 the same? My parts store has a starter for a 235, their book shows this fits a 58 to 62,
Will this work on my 51?

A 1954 6 volt 234 starter will work on a 1948 with a 216.
If your car has been converted to 12 volts there is no telling what starter you have because the 12 volt starter requires a later flywheel.

I'm pretty sure he left the 6volt starter on, my parts store has a 12v 235 starter that will fit a 58 to 62?

It will not work. The 12 Volt has a different drive gear to work with the 12 volt flywheel. 54 was the last year for 6 volt in a car.
