I'm helping my dad get his 66 back on the road and we are putting a factory gauge package in it. Currently have everything figured out but the vac gauge hookup on the back side of the gauge. I don't have a pic of the gauge but it appears to be a pair of square nuts with a hole in the center. How does the line hook up to it? was it copper hard line or rubber vacuum line? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guess i also ask about the temp gauge sending unit. Will we need to replace the sending unit with one that would read the gauge vs the idiot light?

Thanks

I will jump in on the temp sending unit question. Yes, you will need a different unit.

The one for an idiot light is simply a grounding switch that turns on when things get too hot.

The one for a gauge is a variable resistor that changes with temperature.

Sorry but I cannot help with the vacuum gauge hookup and mounting specifically. Typically the nuts are related to mounting the gauge. Normally there is a flat strap u-shaped bracket with 2 holes. The ends of the u fit on the backside of the hole in the dash or mounting plate.

Like this: Vacuum Gauge Mount

Not sure what line was used in a '66 Impala.
