I have a 235 engine with an engine casting number of F0622A. What year was this made?

Thanks sgc,

I guess this number which is stamped in my block must be something not related to the model year. I will re check for other numbers. Thanks for the links! chevy ok

That is the engine number. The F indicates it was made in Flint. The 0622 is June 22.The year is not stamped. The A will indicate as to what engine -trans, combination it was made for.The casting number is on the side of the block and they are raised numbers. It should be above the starter. It will be a number like 3837004 (56-57).There will also be date code numbers in that area.It will be like M215-this would be Dec. 21,1955.How is the valve cover held down?studs in the center or four bolts around the out side edge. What water pump does it have ?The old one that looked like your '40 or the 1955 and up the sits into the block??Just looking for clues

I think I cracked the code.

F0622A

built at Flint on June 18, 1962

This motor has been retrofitted to include the orig 6 volt starter & generator, Carter w-1 carb, the old AC fuel pump, the 40 chev valve cover and all painted gray with Chev's of the 40's engine paint. It's a sweet running motor that I'm very happy with.
