How can I cross reference the engine vin to the car vin on a 64 Chevy. I know after 65 the last 6 digits of the vin should match the engine vin.

Could someone please shed some light on this for me.

Thank you..

JC,
Beginning with the 1962 Model year, all Passenger cars, with hi-perf engines were "supposed" to be stamped with the VIN derivitive and assembly plant designation on the block pad. "hi-perf" means 300hp 327, and all 409s. (Ex: B123456)
I've seen a number of legit cars that did not have the VIN stamping even though it should have been there. The 4-spd transmissions on those engines also were to receive the same VIN stamping.
Verne.
