I have a 62 impala dr ht. my drivers side rear body mount just behind the rear wheels is pretty much rusted out. Does any know what this entails to change and how much a body shop might charge to fix this. I have a friend thats a comercial welder not a body man. do you think this is something we can handle? does any one know the step by step procedure to do this

thanks

The body mounts are a real nasty job. Those box sections are common to rot out, and can be done with the body attached to the frame at the other locations. The hardest part was finding good metal to work with on the body itself. You will find that the car will need new cushions all the way around so I would buy the kit and the bolts for the whole car

One last thing I forgot to tell you, use an old cushion for support of the new box section to make sure you hve enough clearence. Also check all of your doors for alignment prior to installing the box's. Align everything before you begin, and check your geometry as you are going to make sure nothing shifted. Just take your time!
