I've been laid up for a few days following some surgery. Nothing to do but sit in my recliner and watch TV. I discovered the Velocity channel with car stuff 24/7, I guess.
I finally found a couple of shows where they don't steal your car and then redo it without you having any input into the project.
A typical scenario is the car owner comes in with a car that he bought, which did not turn out to be quite what he thought he was getting.
One was a 1967 K10 stepside that leaked a lot and would not stay in the road. The shop found a bunch of stuff wrong, all of it legitimate, as far as I could tell, fixed it properly, as far as I could tell, and the customer went away happy after paying (if I heard right) a $16,000 tab.
Another couple brought in a 1966 VW convertible which had suffered a poor restoration and was not reliable. They left happy after writing a $47,000 check for a complete body off RE-restoration.
Meanwhile, back in Missouri, I'm wondering if I should have spent $700.00 for that new set of tires I just bought from Coker. Where did I go wrong?

It doesn't matter what it costs...It's all about what the monthly payments will be these days.
I like to make sure my wife sees what these restorations and repairs cost on these shows as it justifies my tools and makes the Ebay packages showing up seem more innocent.

Speaking of Fantomworks ...... Did you see the episode where the guy brought in a '58 Chevy, 348 tri power ..... and Fantomworks told the owner the factory installed the incorrect tranny (TURBOGLIDE) because the tranny was not a POWERGLIDE.

I thought every middle aged, and older, car guy had heard of the "Truboglide". The unfortunate nickname assigned to the Turboglide.

Turboglide was the only automatic transmission available in a tri-carb. 348,
Power Glide and Turboglide was available in the 4 barrel 348.
In 1962 Chevrolet sold s kit to change over a 1958 Turboglide to a new for 1962 aluinum Power Glide which looked almost like a Turboglide.

People might think the way I do about cars: I should never spend more as 6 months income for a new car and a couple of months more for a proper restoration and I guess many people earn a lot more as I do.!!!
