A dishwasher could get it clean. I clean greasy items with oven cleaner a brush and rinse with hot water. I then use OSPHO per directions to convert any rust, I do media blasting on most rust but if you don't think you can clean things up after blasting don't. You don't need to prime over OSPHO if you don't need a surfacer.

Lots of great suggestions have been made in this thread and I do appreciate them. When I have finished working on this air cleaner I'll post a picture of it and explain what I did to it. Thanks everyone.
