I'm going to buy new tires for my '25 sedan and I'd like to know the original color of the wheel rims.( not the disc color) I've seen some photos with silver rims. Mine are an off white. I intend to sand blast and paint the rims with factory colors. Thanks.

My research highly suggests zinc plating or galvanizing on the rims. The rims will appear to be a flat whitish silver color. Many will tell you cadmium plating. Cadmium plating will not last as long in a wet environment as zinc.

Thanks Chipper. I'm really thinking of having them sand blasted and then powder coat them the correct color. The powder coat will last a long time.

I know that powder coating is a very tough finish and it looks great, but will the flexing of the rims when changing tires or fixing a flat be a problem?

Thanks, Dean

Just be aware you will need to use a flat or low gloss coating. It is vulnerable to chipping while the plating is not.

Hey Steve,
I had mine blasted and powder coated. They look great and I didn't have any problems when I put my tires on. I did go with the low gloss as Chipper mentioned.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll keep it all in mind when I start the project. For now I'm just waiting for my engine rebuild to be completed.
