Hello Does anyone have any pic. of their 32 sedan where the wood mounts to frame. I bought a 1932 Chevy 5 passenger Confederate 4 dr that was totally apart. I have the frame redone and have a complete wood kit. The old wood was all gone so I never saw how the body sills were mounted to the frame brackets. I don't know if there are bracket I don't have or if the frame really goes to my body. The sills don't line up with the yk frame I have . No one close has a 32 that I could get under it to see so I am really hoping somebody has some pics. of their restoration . I can make some brackets that I can mount body to frame but didn't want to create problems down the road. At a standstill. Thanks more than youll ever know . Dave

For a better response to your question, you should post in the 1929-1932 forum.

Dave,
The body at the cowl fits over the frame. It flares out to extend outside the frame toward the rear. There are brackets at each door post as well as a rear corner bracket. There are also several cross pieces that fit into main sill in lap joints.

My suggestion is to obtain a diagram of the body wood. Diagrams were included in parts books in the year of manufacture. The parts books are available in reprints. A Fisher Body Manual is also available in reprint. It does not give a lot of information specifically on the '32 Sedan but is valuable in understanding the techniques used in assembling and repairing the wood reinforced bodies. Reprinted literature is available from several sources including the Filling Station that advertises here on Chat. The parts book is also valuable in learning the parts used and even fasteners in many cases.

Once you have an idea how the wood is assembled I recommend a dry fit. You can use clamps to hold parts together or even temporary fasteners. An extra screw hole can later be plugged or filled if not in the proper location.

Chipper,

Dave sent me some pictures of the frame and it does not look like a 31, 32 frame. There is a heavily reinforced center section with a K shape to the rear. The tank cover area has a raised center area that looks like it could be for the rear mounted spare.Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Wow,
The description would better fit a mid'30s frame. The "X" or "K" mid-frame reinforcement was not '32. There are others with '34 and later Chevrolet knowledge that frequent Chat. If they have photos they can provide better identification.

I found a drawing of it at the GM Heritage site, it looks like a 34 Master frame. Since he is trying to put a 31 body on it I would think HAMB or other similar site would offer better advice.

The YK frame was sed on 1934-1936 Master.
The 1935 Standard had a "X" frame.
