My '51 had been painted by a PO. The color is supposed to be the original Fathom green but it has way too much metallic. I had a local shop mix up a pint using what information we could find. That color was still not what I thought the color should be.

The code on my car is 445. I was looking at a chart and it showed another Fathom green that had the code 458.

Has anyone painted their car fathom green? If so, what brand of paint did you use and what was the manufacture's paint code?

At some point I would like to get the car painted and would like the color to be close to original.

Thanks, Pete

The paint code on my 1951 Chevrolet is 445, which is Fathom Green. Paint code number 458 is also Fathom Green but, according to my paint chart, 458 was for the 1951 Station Wagon.

No mixing formula is available from Dupont but here are some other codes: Ditzler/PPG 40168, Duco 260-55658-H, Dulux 181-10427-K

I had no luck cross referencing the paint codes for my car which was Trophy Blue with local paint shops. However, if you have access to an original painted part in good shape or can borrow one, you can have it scanned with a colorimeter.

One final note--Fathom Green is listed as a metallic on the Dupont paint bulletin No. 23 sheet 1.
Good luck.

Fathom Green was a very metallic color.
