After a bunch of research I still have no answer. I am looking for the name and code of the yellow used on the later ('56 to '60) 261 6's used in the 6000 series trucks. From late 1960 on to the '64 replacement motors, I believe were painted green.

The Filling Station says they were only painted blue. That is not correct. Some of the reputable places I have called, have never heard of a yellow 261. I am not talking about the Yellow/Green used on the SB V8 265's in 56 to alert that the motor was not a 283 either. BTW, Bill Hirsch out east doesn't know the color either.

If I can't find an answer on VCCA, I may just go with either a Calypso Yellow or Colonial Cream since those were colors GM were using on cars during this time period.

Fairly new to the Chat, so I am hoping I have posted in the right area. The 261 motor I have is a 1959. THANK YOU!!

The 261 truck colors I have and compiled by the late Bob Hensel are yellow in 1956 and 1957 and green in 1958-1962.
This agrees with the various material I have.

I came up with the same info. as Gene.

According to J.C. the engine colors for the 261's were yellow for 1956 & 1957 & then it was changed to green for 1958, 1959 & 1960.

Gene was brought up to me by another tech advisor, so I am glad to see him engaged in this topic. So now that the years of "yellow" are confirmed (THANK YOU), does anyone have the actual name of the yellow and/or color code? I see that they say the orange is Chevrolet Orange and the green is same as Alpine Green, but nothing on the yellow. Does not need to be perfect, just want to be close as possible. THANKS AGAIN for helping me get to the bottom of this mystery.
